Balsamic Strawberries with Fresh Cream

Today while I was at work I realized I would have no time to put something on my blog. Since I do genuinely love my blog I didn’t want to neglect it. I looked around my bosses house for inspiration and I found it tucked away in the back corner of the pantry. There sat a small bottle of aged balsamic. The second I saw the little bottle I knew what I wanted to do so I hightailed it to the market and picked up some strawberries and heavy cream. The second I got back to my bosses house I cut up my berries and started the maceration process. After a few hours I decided it was time to start whipping the cream (aka: arm exercise) and dig into my summer dessert. I had never tried balsamic with strawberries before and I will honestly have to say that after today I’m a HUGE fan. The syrupy aged balsamic added so much extra flavor to the berries and I was truly shocked at how well it tasted. I whipped my cream by hand and didn’t add any sugar but if sweetened cream is your forte then by all means add some sugar. Enjoy!!!

Balsamic Strawberries:

1 lb. strawberries – hulled and sliced

1 T. aged balsamic

1 1/2 T. white sugar

In a bowl place strawberries and drizzle with balsamic. Allow to sit at room temperature for up to 1/2 hour. Sprinkle with sugar and spoon into individual dishes. Top with whipped cream if desired.

Fresh Cream:

Cold whipping cream

In a metal bowl add cream and whip with whisk until firm.  You can also use a mixer to whip the cream.

Sorry for the glare…the sun was not my friend today but in the end I still like the way the pictures turned out:)

  5. I never tried aged balsamic vinegar to date, so can’t imagine how the taste would be like… (maybe I should just grab that bottle I spotted in market now that strawberries are in season) – but I like your first photo of it. How the angle makes me think that the goodie is out of my reach boohoo. :-)
