Spicy Hibiscus Peach Teagria {Tea + Sangria}

This spicy hibiscus peach tea sangria is the perfect balance of sweet and spicy. Flavorful tea mixed with wine, fresh fruit and jalapeños – what’s not to love?

You know what I love most about summer? – The ability to drink sangria all day long and not feel like a complete lush.

Summer + sangria = perfection

You know what’s even better about summer? When you can make that sangria so freaking delicious that you drink all the sangria yourself so you don’t have to share. Listen, I know sharing is caring but not in this department.

Am I right?

Oh and can we talk about the spicy aspect of this sangria?

Jalapeño.

Sweet baby J I love me some fresh summertime jalapeños. These babies were super spicy, which is almost a rarity to find nowadays. I ended up adding 3 to my sangria but you could always add more or less depending on your love of heat and the spiciness of your peppers.

I also switched up this sangria by adding in a little fresh brewed hibiscus peach tea. I know tea is not a normal ingredient to add into sangria but it totally works – trust me.

Plus I got to use my new handy dandy Teafu by Dreamfarm.

What’s a Teafu? Well it’s a pretty cool little silicone loose tea brewer that I’m basically in love with. It’s easy to use, dishwasher safe and gives me a reason to buy all the loose tea I want.

I’m sure my husband is happy about this. Who wouldn’t an excuse to buy tea?

I made sure to add lots of fruit to the sangria because it’s basically like a second drink. When you sangria runs out you move onto the fruit. It’s sweet, wine soaked and the perfect after drink snack.

Oh, and if you wondered how I managed to take a shot me pouring that sangria I will have you know it was not easy. I’m the worst at multitasking so I had to set the camera up on the tripod, set my phone up to the wifi on the camera and then attempt to pour (with both hands) while quickly pressing the button on my phone.

While I think I managed to pull off some good shots I also managed to pour a lot of sangria on my table.

Oops!

  • 1 bottle unoaked chardonnay
  • 1 cup hibiscus tea, cooled
  • 1/4 cup Brandy
  • 1/4 cup peach schnapps
  • 1/2 - 1/4 cup superfine sugar (to taste)
  • 2-3 jalapeños, seeded and diced
  • 2 peaches, cut into chunks
  • 1 small mango, cut into chunks
  • 1 orange, cut into segments
  • 1 lime, cut into segments

In a large pitcher (or punch bowl...do you people still have punch bowls?) add wine, tea, Brandy, peach schnapps and sugar. Mix together until the sugar starts to dissolve in the mixture.

Add in jalapeños, peaches, mango, orange and lime. Let sit in the fridge for a few hours so the flavors have time to combine.

Taste test to make sure it's sweet enough. If not add in a little more sugar.

Serve cold over ice with a splash of seltzer water.

Note: Superfine sugar dissolves faster into cooler liquids. If you can't find superfine sugar you can use regular sugar.
