I have mad love for my slow cooker. I bought it right after my wedding and fell madly in love. The crock actually cracked a few years after owning it and I found out they stopped making my beloved slow cooker. Major sadness. I called the company and they offered to buy back my slow cooker and sent me a check for $150. I was sad about the loss of my slow cooker but the check made it better.

So off I went to buy a new slow cooker and there I saw it – my discontinued slow cooker on clearance. ON CLEARANCE!  That meant I could get a new cooker all while still getting to sorta kinda keep my old slow cooker. Now I just have to make sure this baby doesn’t break because I will cry!

Mostly because I’ll be forced to try to find another cooker (when the time comes I have picked out this to be my new slow cooker) I like just as much AND I won’t be able to make this slow cooker honey soy sriracha pulled chicken. You guys. This chicken is SOOOOOO good! It’s got a crazy amount of flavor and perfect when served over rice or eating straight from the slow cooker like a child who grew up with zero manners.

Of course, it can be customized to your liking. That means if you want it spicier just throw in more sriracha. If you want more garlic flavor just throw in a few more cloves. It’s super customizable and guaranteed to be delicious. The only thing I would recommended not changing is the low sodium soy sauce. It can get pretty salty if you try to use the normal stuff!

Slow Cooker Honey Soy Sriracha Pulled Chicken

This slow cooker honey soy sriracha pulled chicken is packed full of flavor and made all in the slow cooker. All you need are a few easy ingredients, a slow cooker and 4-6 hours. Serve it over rice, on a bun or straight from the slow cooker!

Yield: 4-6 servings

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 6 hours

Total Time: 6 hours

Ingredients:

  • 4 pounds boneless skinless chicken breast
  • 1/3 cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sriracha
  • 2 tablespoons grated ginger
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons natural rice wine vinegar
  • 4 tablespoons cold water
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • Diced green onions, for topping
  • Sesame seeds, for topping

Directions:

Add chicken to a 6-quart slow cooker.

In a bowl whisk together low sodium soy sauce, honey, hoisin sauce, sriracha, grated ginger, minced garlic, and rice wine vinegar.

Pour the mixture over the chicken and put the top on the slow cooker. Cook on high for 4-6 hours or until the chicken starts to pull apart naturally.

Once it has reached this stage you can start pulling the chicken in the slow cooker until it's fully shredded. If the sauce is still pretty watery you can mix together the cornstarch and water (mix until the cornstarch has fully dissolved in the water!) and pour into the slow cooker. Stir to combine, put the lid back on the slow cooker and let sit for 10 minutes.

At this point, the mixture should have thickened up nicely.

To serve top with diced green onions and sesame seeds if desired. You can serve the chicken over top rice, on a bun or straight from the slow cooker.

and i just cooked up a whole batch of plain garlic chicken last night when i could have done this!! next time, for sure.

i had the large kitchenaid slow cooker for a few years, purchased for it’s large size. but the crock cracked and i replaced it twice before giving up. apparently you couldn’t put frozen foods in it or a whole bunch of other things either. now i have the large oval crockpot sold at costco and it’s been fantastic. frozen food thrown right in and no cracking at all. i actually have two, for when i feed a lot of people.

I don’t use my slow cooker nearly frequently enough. That must change. Pretty sure I’m starting with this recipe. Sounds fantastic, Brandy!
