Baked Supreme Pizza Sliders

These baked supreme pizza sliders are the new baked sandwiches of your dreams. They taste just like loaded supreme pizza made with marinara sauce, spicy Italian sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, green peppers, onions and lots of mozzarella cheese. You’ll love how easy these baked sliders are to make!

These baked supreme pizza sliders are making me crazy happy!

You know I have a soft spot for baked sandwiches (like my baked apple butter ham and cheese sandwiches or my baked turkey bacon onion sandwiches!) and now I have a soft spot for baked sandwiches that taste just like pizza.

PLUS since it’s still basketball bracket time I have a feeling these sliders are 100% appropriate.

I mean, I thought about waiting to post these till April BUT April is all about spring food and in spring I want fresh light flavors.

And since there is still snow on the ground I feel it’s appropriate to give you this cheese-laden comfort food.

These sliders really do taste like pizza and are crazy loading with filling.

You can play around with fillings of your choice but just remember you need to actually be able to bite into these sliders so don’t fill them too much.

I opted to fill mine supreme pizza style – pepperoni, spicy crumbled sausage, green bell peppers, onions, mushrooms and of course CHEEEEEEEEESE!

Art mentioned I should have throw on some black olives but I have very intense feelings about olives on pizza – no.

I especially love the herbed olive oil and Parmesan topping on the buns because it completes the baked supreme pizza sliders and turns them from good to “OMG I CAN’T STOP EATING THEM!” good.

Who doesn’t want sliders like that?

{Also, can we talk about how much I use my 9×13 rimmed baking sheet? All. The. Time. Get one folks – totally worth it!}

Prep Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 45 minutes
Total Time 1 hour
Servings 12 sliders

Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound spicy Italian sausage casing removed
  • 1 small yellow onion thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper thinly sliced
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 12 slider sized potato rolls
  • 1-1/2 cups marinara sauce
  • 36 pepperoni slices
  • 1-1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 4 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese divided
  • 2 tablespoons minced parsley

Instructions

  • In a large skillet set over medium-high heat add the sausage and cooked until brown.
  • Remove sausage with a slotted spoon onto a paper towel-lined plate, set side.
  • In the same pan add in the onions, bell peppers and mushrooms. Cook until soft and golden in color, remove from heat and set aside.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and spray a small 9×13 jelly roll sized pan or casserole dish lightly with non-stick spray.
  • Spread an equal amount of marinara sauce on the bottom piece of each roll and place the bottom of the buns into your prepared pan.
  • Add 3 slices of pepperoni per bottom and top them all with 1/2 cup of mozzarella cheese, cooked sausage and cooked onions, peppers, mushrooms and the remaining shredded cheese.
  • Top the sandwiches with the tops of the buns.
  • In a small bowl whisk together olive oil, garlic powder, and oregano.
  • Brush the tops of buns with the mixture and sprinkle with 2 tablespoons of grated Parmesan.
  • Bake for about 20 minutes or until browned on the top and the cheese is melted in the sandwiches. Keep an eye on your sandwiches so the tops do not burn. If you notice them burning you can lightly cover them with foil they will still get warm in the middle and not burn the top.
  • Remove from the oven and top with remaining grated Parmesan cheese and minced parsley.
