Bourbon is amazing and so is this bourbon apple butter milk punch. You’re going to go crazy for this one!

If you follow me on Instagram you will possibly recognize this cocktail. I actually made it over the summer for a Musselman’s Apple Butter recipe contest at Big Summer Potluck. I didn’t win {sad face} but the cocktail was still pretty amazing. It was creamy, full of spice and reminded me of fall in a glass.

I know, super cliche. Somewhere there is a famous food writer shaking their head and thinking “can we please stop saying things taste like ‘insert season’ in a glass?” Sorry famous food writer. I’m not changing. I’m going to be a cliche until the cows come home. Or maybe I could just say #sorryimnotsorry

I should warn you that this beauty uses fresh {read not cooked} egg white. But you have a couple choices if that freaks you out. I’m totally comfortable with my eggs because I know the folks who raise the hens. The eggs are fresh and I feel safe consuming them raw. However, I totally understand that is not for everyone. You can buy pasteurized raw eggs in the store and then use the whites from that egg. It will now be safe and you won’t have to worry.

{I sorta hope all that egg talk did not turn you off. I just like to throw out a little warning before I get hate mail about consuming raw eggs.}

Oh and can I just tell you about the crazy amount of bourbon in my household. My husband is becoming obsessed and bottles keep showing up on my liquor table. I’m not complaining but then again there is only so much bourbon two people can drink. I actually had this great idea to get him a bottle of bourbon for Christmas. It’s this specific brand he is always talking about. So I walk into the liquor store, ask to buy a bottle and then got a chuckle from the store owner as he explained to me “there is a waiting list with at least 70 people.” Oh and apparently this totally amazing bourbon company only sends him *maybe* 12 bottles a year #fail

Sorry honey. I love you but it sounds like it’s going to take 7 years to get your bourbon. Damn you Pappy Van Winkle for being so hard to procure.

Bourbon apple butter milk punch

Yield: 1 drink

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 0 minutes

Total Time: 5 minutes


1 - 2 ounces bourbon (depends on your love of bourbon)
2 teaspoons vanilla bean paste
3 ounces half & half
2 teaspoons egg white (I know where my eggs come from so I use raw egg but pasteurized egg whites work as well)
1 tablespoon Musselman's apple butter
Ice cubes
Apple pie spice


Add bourbon, vanilla bean paste, half & half, egg white and apple butter to a cocktail shaker.

Add 3 ice cubes, close the shaker and shake vigorously for at least 1 minute. (I like to shake mine till I feel like I have accomplished some form of arm exercise)

Pour into a ice cube filled cocktail glass, sprinkle with apple pie spice and enjoy!
