Giveaway Time!

Hello blog world 🙂 I first would like to apologize for my disappearance.  Not really sure whats going on in my head. I feel so drained and blah. I’m blaming it on this dark depressing winter weather. I don’t think I could handle living in Alaska with all that missing sunlight. If you have noticed I haven’t been commenting on your blog, don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten you. I will most definitely get caught up this week.

Since I do not have anything editable to post I’m going to offer you this awesome giveaway from the great people at MyBlogSpark and Fiber One. Now onto my review of the product. I thought the taste was good and had a decent chocolate flavor. All the fiber was helpful in keeping my hunger under control until dinner. However. There is one thing I was not so sure about it. As I read through the ingredients I saw it contained high maltose corn syrup. I had no idea what that was so I investigated a bit. Apparently it is considered less harmful then HFCS because the body is able to metabolize the maltose without straining the liver. However, it is relatively new to human consumption, so effects on the body are unclear. Also HMCS contains gluten, so those affected with celiac should steer clear. (Ehow) Whether or not it’s allegedly better, can’t companies just start using natural, not chemically produced or broken down sweeteners? I priced these bars in my grocery store and they were not any cheaper than Kashi bars which are sweetened naturally. What are your thoughts?

Although I do have certain feelings against their choice of sweeteners I’m not completely against eating them. Are they better than grabbing a snickers? Heck yeah! When your in a pinch and need something that will help your hunger as well as give you 20% of your daily value of fiber, then grab one of these bars. I’m guilty of not always being able to grab fruit or veggies (I tend to sometimes run out and forget to stop at the store) so I think these would make a great sometimes substitute (moderation people!) Enjoy!
