New York City Wine and Food Festival Recap

New York City Wine and Food Festival 2013

If you follow me along on Instagram you will know that a couple of weeks ago I was off in NYC attending the New York City Wine and Food Festival. Not only did I have the opportunity to walk around the festival {and sample!} but I also had the opportunity to work with Progresso as one of their Artisan Ambassadors. As I talked about in my catching up post I signed on to work with Progresso to help kick off their east launch of their new soup line.

Not only was the festival a blast but I got to meet 4 new bloggers! {Hi friends! – Big Apple Nosh, Beauty and the Feast, The NYC Talon and Food and the City} I’m always happy when I get to meet new writers. The best part is that there is no awkward silence because we can always talk about blogging. This must be how mothers feel when they just pull out the “mommy card” and start chatting about kids.

One of the most exciting part of the weekend was getting to meet and speak with Joe Bastianich. Yes, that is a selfie I took with him. Why not be ridiculous when meeting a foodie celebrity? Maybe he will remember as the girl in the bright pink hoodies who felt it was necessary to take a couple selfie. You never know.

I also loved listening to Joe speak about growing up in an Italian household. Soup was a big part of their daily diet and his grandmother started every morning off by making a large pot. You can’t beat that for love in food form.

After our first day at the festival we went back to the hotel to freshen up and have dinner at Bastianich’s restaurant, Del Posto. I die! I have been wanting to dine here for about forever. After accidentally crashing a wedding {the bride was gorgeous and I was offered a signature cocktail that looked amazing but passed since I wasn’t exactly invited to the wedding and I’m not Vince Vaughn} we found the room for our private dinner. We were seating inside a working wine cellar! We dined with the whole Progresso/Kraft team and had a fabulous night of food, laughter and of course really good wine.

Could a girl ask for anything else?

I also celebrated my 1 year anniversary while alone in a hotel in the city. Luckily I had scary movies and a crazy comfortable bed {that I did not want to leave!} to keep my company.

oh man… sounds like a blast!!! I can’t wait to visit NYC in December, might have to add this to my list of places to eat. Stinks though that you had to spend your anniversary alone. 🙁

You rock! Seriously. I wish you lived closer so we could go out and adventure in the city together – but am also plagued with jealousy b/c the Hudson Valley gives you access to so much good food (cheese!)! Talk to you soooonnn!!! 🙂

This sounds great… except for the scary movie part! Happy 1st anniversary. I hope you did something special to celebrate with Art once you returned home. That dinner with the Progresso/Kraft group looks like it was amazing!
