Yesterday Mr. Nutmeg Nanny and I had tickets to see a live taping of “The People’s Court“…I know I know. You are all thinking “what dorks!”  Although you may be correct I cannot hide my love for TV court shows.  When I’m home during the day I have a whole TV schedule built around what court show is on at what time. Now while I may not sit down and watch each show that is on, the TV it is still on. I can’t be in the house and not have something going on the TV. I like the noise. Ok now back to yesterday. The weather in the city was gorgeous so we walked to the studio and then went in and watched five cases. None of the cases were overly exciting but still fun.

After the taping was over Mr. Nutmeg Nanny and I decided to grab some dinner at Ben Benson’s Steakhouse. Now I know everyone has their opinion about what steakhouse is the best, but I’m not gonna lie…this place is awesome. I have never had a bad meal here and even though they are not the cheapest restaurant in the world I find it to be well worth it. They are also currently running a special meal for two. This is what Artie and I decided to try and this is what I’m showcasing. I took some pictures at dinner, which are not that great(I was sorta scared to take pictures afraid people would think I’m nuts.  I am not as brave as Five Star Foodie 🙂 ).

Dinner Special For Two:

Mr. NN and I both got the Beef Barley Soup but you also have the option of getting the Soup of the Day.  It had an almost gravy like broth, hunks of seasoned beef, perfectly cooked barley and a beefy rich flavor.

Delicious Caesar salad topped with flavorful croutons, shaved Parmesan cheese and dressing.

The main course consists of two lobster tails, filet mignon (cut table side), creamed spinach and hashed brown potatoes. (Don’t you love that you can see Mr.NN poised and ready to eat) You can also choose Chateaubriand if you are not a fan of lobster. I ordered our filet rare and for me it was cooked perfectly. As you can see…I like it pink 🙂 The lobster was tasty, although I’m not really a huge fan. I just don’t get what all the hype is about. Mr. NN totally disagrees with me though. I’m pretty sure he would eat lobster every day if he could. The creamed spinach was delicious and had just the right amount of cream so you could actually still taste the spinach. The hashed brown potatoes were my favorite. Buttery and perfectly cooked with some onions and green peppers thrown into the mix. Delicious!

Now here is my favorite part about this meal. Wanna know how much this meal for two costs? Come on guess. What do you think? It’s NYC after all.

Ok the answer is $90.

I think that is pretty awesome. You agree?

Enjoy!

P.S. For dessert Mr. Nutmeg Nanny and I shared a red velvet cupcake from Magnolia Bakery on the train ride home. Wanna know what we had for breakfast? We shared another cupcake 🙂

That is the kind of day that is just plain fun. A non pressured day to wander and enjoy. I am glad you got the chance to have it.

NY is so high paced, it is shocking when there is time to just live without thinking about each detail.
