First a little back story:

When I first moved to New York I was a nanny for a family in Westchester county NY. It was a fun gig and I stayed there for a little over 2 years. The family I worked for I now lovingly call my New York family. The kids are all grown up now, with 2 of them living on their own in Boston and 1 still in college. I look at them and feel old. How were they so tiny when I started and no so big and grown up? Anyway, the reason I tell you all this back story is because they asked me attend a private pasta class with them that involved making pasta, eating the pasta (as well as other amazing food) and drinking wine. Lots of delicious wine.

I was in.

Earlier in the week I had tried a new toy that was sent to me called the VinoVinti. It’s a nifty little wine gadget that removes excess carbon dioxide from wine and helps give an aged smoothness in minutes. At first I was skeptical but it really works. I sorta get why people love gadgets. When they work they are pretty amazing. When they don’t work they just make your junk drawer explode. Luckily this has a home on the bar and not in the junk drawer.

Back to pasta. The wine was poured and we were told how to make the dough and they even taught us how to roll it by hand or with a machine. We shaped the pasta into little bowties and teeny tiny cavatellis. I would set my glass down and before I could pick it back up it was filled again. Does anything go together better than pasta and wine?

{If you followed me along on Instagram you would have seen some of my pictures. I couldn’t help but post all that deliciousness}

The best part of the evening came when we sat down and got to eat our handy work. We have a lovely pasta sampler that involved our made with love albeit slightly misshaped pasta. Hey, it was still delicious. That’s all that matters…right?

Now don’t worry. I’m going to tell you a little bit more about the VinoVinti too. First let me say if you have a wine lover in your family I would definitely recommend buying them one of these. Why? Well first of all it actually works. It’s great for store bought bottle wine or even homemade wine. My father has a friend who makes a lot of his own wine and this is a great tool to add a little smoothness.

Interested in how this works? How happy would you be if this was in your stocking? 🙂

    I am so happy I read this post! My mom had mentioned wanting something for Christmas, and I could not for the life me remember what. Your post jogged my memory: it was a wine aerator! Perfection.
