Rosemary Asian Pear Crisp

This rosemary Asian pear crisp is a fun twist to the normal fruit crisp. Packed full of sweet ripe Asian pears, golden raisins, minced rosemary and finished with a super crunchy oat topping. Perfect when served plain, sprinkled with powdered sugar or a big scoop of ice cream.

On Thanksgiving, I was standing in my in-law’s house when my brother in law walks in with a giant box of Asian pears and says “Here you go!” At first, I was like “umm ok?” Then he let me know that his dry cleaner gave him some pears (I know, random) and he had no idea what to do with them and thought I might be able to use them. I gladly took my box of pears and started brainstorming.

Since it’s winter I figure a crisp was 100% necessary. I’m also OBSESSED with using fresh herbs in desserts and what better winter flavors than pears, raisins and rosemary?

The thing I love most about this dish is its total homeyness . It reminds me of the type of dish I would find at my grandma’s house but with a little Brandy twist. As much as I love my grandma she would have never thrown rosemary in her crisp. If you’re on the fence about herbs in sweets I PROMISE it’s not weird! I’ve done it a few times with muffins (cranberry orange rosemary muffins and my blueberry lemon thyme muffins) and it worked crazy well strawberry basil shortcake.

I also decided to add in a little golden raisins because I personally think golden raisins are totally underrated. PLUS they are little nuggets of sweetness that are alway appreciated and wanted. Who’s with me?
