Sunrise Gin and Juice

This sunrise gin and juice cocktail is just what your morning needs! Full of orange juice, gin and a splash of grenadine. It’s going to be your new brunch favorite!

I’m a sucker for a morning cocktail. Now before you are start setting up an intervention I should clarify that I like one {ok maybe two} drinks in the morning. I’m not looking to get smashed.

Hands down gin is my most favorite spirit. If I’m at a bar and see a gin based cocktail I’m all over it. I cannot get enough of the stuff. If you tried it once and think it tastes like pine needles you need to give gin another try. While good gin does have a very distinct taste it should be refreshing and light on the tongue. If you take a sip and it tastes like you just feel face down into a pine needle pit you need to try another brand.

This little morning refresher is based off the classic 70’s Tequila Sunrise. I remember once when I was a kid I tried to order a drink at a bar {it was my brothers wedding} and the only drink I could think of was a Tequila Sunrise. They were on to me. Who in the hell orders an orange juice based drink at a wedding?

Now, in this drink I used real grenadine. The good stuff. Not that weird stuff that comes from the store. That stuff is filled with HFCS and tons of red dye…gross. Let me tell you something about Jack Rudy Cocktail Co. grenadine. It’s premium, made in small batches and is perfectly sweet. Nothing is worse than a cloyingly sweet cocktail addition. If your going to go through the trouble of making a cocktail at home you should make it a good one!

They let me sample their grenadine and tonic syrup and I was blown away. I’m such a sucker for quality cocktail ingredients. They really hit the nail on the head with these two syrups. The great news is that they are letting me giveaway 1 bottle of their grenadine and 1 bottle of their tonic syrup…how fun is that! You’re going to love this stuff!
