Sweet Cider Ginger Cocktail

This sweet cider ginger cocktail is perfect for Thanksgiving…

You all know I’m a huge fan of cocktails. There doesn’t even have to be a good reason for me get into the kitchen and whip up a new and interesting drink. Plus sipping away on a tasty cocktail is the perfect addition to any Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner.

For this cocktail I was sent a few SweeTango apples and asked to pick up a jug of SweeTango apple cider. SweeTango is a new variety of apples that are a cross between honeycrisp (hello delicious!) and zestar apples. They are a managed variety which means that not just any grower can plant and tree and harvest these beauties. In order to grown these apples you have to belong to the the Next Big Thing cooperative and have to be approved to make sure you can uphold the strict growing standards of the SweeTango apple. Why would they do this? This way if you have a SweeTango apple that was grown in Michigan and one that grown in New York they will taste the same. Quality control is a good thing.

This cocktail combines cider, spicy ginger beer and just a dash of bourbon. I’m so obsessed with bourbon right now. I have been whipping up some major winter cocktails using it’s deliciousness. Plus be sure to pickup a nice and spicy ginger beer. I really like the Goya Jamaican ginger beer because it includes a little capsaicin in the mix which gives it a nice gingery burn.

You are not going to be disappointed with this drink. If you like cider this ones for you!
