Summertime Sangria

Summer is sippin’ time! Well, at least it is in my family. It’s the time where you can make big pitchers of sangria and sit sippin’ on the porch all day till it’s gone. Don’t worry. For us kids my parents gave us lemonade and sweet tea.

Now, if you read Nutmeg Nanny a lot you will notice something. My cocktail category is HUGE. Why? Well because I like cocktails. Who doesn’t? That is why when I was asked to make a cocktail for this month’s Kitchen PLAY event I was ecstatic! I was even more excited when I found who was sponsoring the event: CUTCO Cutlery.

I know, I know. Why would I be excited about a knife company sponsoring an event where I’m supposed to make the cocktail? Here’s why. Have you ever made sangria? Do you know how much fruit you have to cut up?! A lot! Doing that with a cheap knife is no fun!

The main thing I liked about CUTCO is that the all of their knives are made in the USA. It’s hard to find good-quality products that are still made in the USA. Not only that, but they offer a “forever guarantee” on their knives. This means they guarantee their performance, sharpness and even offer reduced cost to knives that have been damaged due to misuse or abuse. This is quality!

They were also kind enough to send to me one of their Trimmer knives, and it was a total workhorse in the kitchen. It sliced through all the fruits with ease and cut my sangria-making time in half! (I admit, most my knives are not so good).
