It’s chicken wing time! Or as I sing it across the house “It’sssssssssssssss chicken wing timeeeeeeeeeee!” Now, I know chicken wings are thought of as an appetizer type of food BUT I’m all about them being the main course. I make up a ton of these tiny little spicy bites, serve them with some vegetables (because I try to be an adult) and enjoy my dinner. This version of these wings is perfection because they have that perfect spicy sweet combination. Seriously, who doesn’t love all things sriracha?!

I, of course, served it with a side of Sparkling Ice Lemon Tea because chicken and tea go together like two peas in a pod. Granted this is a bit different than traditional fried chicken with sweet tea BUT it’s still just as delicious. Oh and that Lemon Tea is packed with just the right amount of lemon flavor mixed with fizzy tea flavor. Sweet baby J it’s amazing!

Anddddddd I I baked them in the oven because oven baked wings are the bomb! They always come crispy and delicious without all that messy frying business. You know I hate frying.

I also sadly feel like these honey sriracha chicken wings are my way of saying goodbye to summer. Soon it will be pumpkin errrrrrything and delicious little wings and iced tea will be out the window. I mean, I’ll still be in the corner enjoying these things BUT the blog soon must swap over to all things fall. However, I’m not really that sad because I lived the heck out of this summer!

I know you saw my last two posts I did with Sparking Ice (raspberry sorbet tea float and peach tea bourbon slushies) promoting their campaign to “Flavor Up” your summer. I think I did that to a T! I traveled to Nantucket, Utah, Maine, New York City, Richmond (ok, not that exciting but it was with my fabulous friends so it makes it amazing) and London. You know what, summer of 2016 was pretty freaking fabulous.

To be honest I’m sorta looking forward to just chilling out for the month of September. My plan is to get my blog schedules laid out for the fall and winter (special requests will be accepted!) and relax.

Is it weird I’m excited for this?

Honey Sriracha Chicken Wings

These sweet and spicy honey sriracha chicken wings are the perfect game day appetizer or weeknight dinner. Baked in the oven so they come out super crispy and glazed to perfection.

Yield: 2-4 servings

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 50 minutes

Total Time: 60 minutes

Ingredients:

For chicken:

  • 2 pounds chicken drumettes

For glaze:

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup sriracha
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 2 teaspoons fish sauce
  • 2 teaspoons grated garlic

For serving:

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees and line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or a Silpat liner.

Add chicken wings to the prepared baking sheet, bake for 20 minutes, flip sides and back for another 20 minutes. (If your chicken wings are on the smaller size cut down the cooking time to 15 minutes per side.)

Remove from the oven and turn the oven to broil.

Baste the chicken wings with the glaze and place under the broiler. I glaze mine on both sides about 2-3 times so they have a nice thick glaze. Watch your wings while under the broiler as they can burn very quickly.

Serve them with a sprinkling of cilantro and honey granules.

For glaze:
Over medium heat melt butter in a medium sized non-stick skillet. Add in remaining ingredients and whisk to combine. Let simmer over medium heat until slightly thickened.

Is it really 1/4 TBS of honey and Sriracha? Maybe 4 TBS?? I haven't heard of 1/4 TBS.
