You guys I just got back from a cruise and I’m so hella relaxed you don’t even know. The hubs and I did nothing but hang out, nap, eat, drink and go to the spa. I’m pretty sure I hit up the spa every single day and I regret none of the money that was spent there.

Which was a lot.

Because apparently I’m a princess who requires 3 full body massages on a 7 day vacation.

Thank goodness my husband puts up my shenanigans and supported my spa requests with zero hesitation. However, there was one spa treatment that gave me pause. I had a full body scrub. Have you ever had one of those?

Well if you haven’t let me tell you a little story.

Ok?

This skillet sherry shrimp and tomatoes is ready in under 30 minutes and packed full of spicy shrimp, feta cheese and cherry tomatoes. So easy and fresh! Great served over rice!

Lets go through this whole body scrub from the top.

When I first booked the treatment I’m not sure why I didn’t realize you would have to be totally nude to get this scrub done. I mean its’ a total “duh” moment when I look back but I just sorta assumed they would scrub you in sections while being covered like when you get a massage.

No. That is not how it’s done. First they tell you to get naked, put on some lame paper underwear and cover your boobs with a hand towel. A HAND TOWEL! Yeah, unless that hand towel comes in DDD size it’s going to be about zero help. Also, lets talk about how my hefty ass is NOT going to be rocking paper underwear.

So I think to myself “It’s cool. This is for your skin. You’re going to look so hot after this all this will be 100% worth it.” After I realized that the underwear was going nowhere I kept mine on and waited for the spa master to return. Of course when she came in the door I started talking a mile a minute about how that paper nonsense was not going to work and instead I was opting to keep my underwear on for the procedure. It is at this point that she basically looked at me and was all “yeah, it’s cool. Whatever. I don’t care.”

After I realized it was good I started to relax as she rubbed down my body with the most amazing smelling ginger and lime scrub. In my mind I was so chill. I was all “Don’t be self-conscious Brandy. She will never see you again.” but in real life I’m sure I was twitchy as hell and looked like I was about to bolt at any minute.

So now I’m fully covered in scrub and little miss scrubber announces it’s time I get wrapped up in some silver crinkly paper for 25 minutes. Yeah, so I lay my fat naked body down {and then my boobs split like the red sea under that hand towel} on the table and she starts wrapping me up like a giant Chipotle burrito. Then she lets me know that I’ll get a head massage while I bake. So I’m all “this if freaking awesome. I love head massages!”  Then I fell asleep as she was massaging my head and woke myself up with a giant snore/snort.

Sigh.

Finally my burrito roasting was over, I got up and showered and laid back down on the table for a full body massage. I would like to say that I totally relaxed at this point but really the whole time I was thinking to myself “dear load someone must know about this body scrub stuff. This is zero fun. Like zero. Even if it is good for your skin.”

After my spa debacle was over I got back to the room , told Art in great detail what I had just experienced {all why saying “touch my super soft burrito skin!”} and then begged him to take me to dinner. You know – because getting scrubbed is an appetite building experience. So we got to the restaurant I ordered about 35 pounds of cocktail shrimp and I ate my feelings. Not really. I don’t eat my feelings. That shit is unhealthy. I talk about my feelings and then eat until the ocean calls and says they would like me to stop eating all its shrimp.

Now, in all seriousness you should get a scrub if that is your sort of thing. You should also make this shrimp dish because I KNOW it’s your sort of thing. It’s ready in UNDER 30 minutes and is packed with spicy sherry cooked tomatoes and shrimp and topped with salty feta cheese. I ate it straight from the skillet {because I’m classy like that} but it’s also great served over rice or couscous.

The best part about this dish? You don’t have to get naked and get your body scrubbed to enjoy it.

Unless you’re into that sort of thing.

Skillet Sherry Shrimp and Tomatoes

This skillet sherry shrimp and tomatoes is ready in under 30 minutes and packed full of spicy shrimp, feta cheese and cherry tomatoes. So easy and fresh!

Yield: 4 servings

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 20 minutes

Total Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 2 pints cherry tomatoes, cut in half
  • 1 teaspoon anchovy paste
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/3 cup dry sherry
  • 1 pound peeled and deveined shrimp
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • Kosher salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup crumbled feta cheese

Directions:

In a large non-stick skillet set over medium heat add olive oil. Once the oil is hot add in cherry tomatoes and anchovy paste.

Cook until the tomatoes start to soften, wilt and release their juices.

Add in garlic and cook for 30 seconds.

Pour in sherry and increase heat to medium high. Bring to a slight simmer and add in shrimp, crushed red pepper, kosher salt and pepper.

Cook until the shrimp just turns pink, remove from the heat and stir in feta cheese.

Serve over rice or couscous or eat plain with a side of crusty bread to sop up the juices.

Note: The mixture should be have a little juice in the skillet (great for serving over rice!) but not super soupy. Cook down the sherry with the tomatoes if it appears as though the mixture will contain too much liquid. The balance of cooking down the sherry will depend on how juiciness of your tomatoes.

You're a brave woman getting a full body scrub. I laughed at your description of the paper underwear and hand towel. Hysterical! Glad you had a great vacation. I adore a nice cruise. Oh, nice recipe too. I love shrimp dishes!
