This creamy dairy free avocado ranch dressing is perfect on top of salad or even as a quick vegetable dip. Don’t pick the bottle when you can make it from scratch.
When I was a kid the only salad dressing I wanted to eat was ranch. You know the stuff. It comes out of the bottle in a glop and just sorta coats everything. When I think of it now I shutter at the thought of eating again. Since I’m from the Midwest I feel like saying this is sacrilege. I remember when I was in high school next to the giant container of ketchup there was also a giant container of ranch. I would watch people smother their pizza in ranch dressing.
Who does that? Seriously, why would you ruin a perfectly good {well, as good as school pizza can be} piece of school pizza with ranch dressing? I feel the same way about people who dip French fries in ranch dressing. Why, people, why?
Ok, so after I have sat here told you how I hate the thought of ranch dressing I’m going to tell you that I made my own. This big difference is that this homemade version is super creamy (not gloppy) and dairy free! So instead of the usual buttermilk filled dressing I mixed it up by using unsweetened almond milk. Plus I threw in half an avocado because they are delicious and help make just about anything creamy and over the top.
Want to know why I made this homemade dressing dairy free? It’s because I teamed up with Silk to help spread the news about water conservation. I have to admit that in my younger (less earth oriented) days I always brushed my teeth with the water running. To make matters even worse it was warm water going down the drain. Then I realized I’m not a princess and could handle brushing my teeth without wasting a gallon of warm water going down the train. That means that by not letting the water run {during both daily brushings} I can help save up to 730 gallons of water. Plus, by drinking Silk you can help save up to 500 gallons of water per half gallon over conventional dairy milk.
What ways do you help conserve water? By simply sharing one of Silk’s Earth month videos Silk will donate $1 to The Nature Conservancy, up to $20,000. Plus you can follow them on Facebook to learn more about dairy free living and water conservation. Plus I’m giving away 4 Indoor Water Bank Saving Eco-Kit along with a Silk branded bag and tumbler. All you have to do is like the Nutmeg Nanny FB page and share one of the Silk Yay Water videos. Just let me know in the comments what video you shared. The winner will be picked April 22nd and the prize will be shipped to your door.

Ahh, I remember the buckets of condiments in high school... I'm from the south, and our options were ranch, ketchup & Texas Pete. To this day, my favorite way to eat fries is to douse them with Texas Pete :)
Thus dressing looks wonderful! We're trying to move away from the store bought stuff, so I can't wait to make this!
