More about Brandy O’Neill

First, you should know that I love cats, air conditioning, Coke Zero, houseplants, sarcasm, The Office, and travel. Also, I’m an Aquarius, 3w2, and an ENFP.

Now, onto my traditional bio:

I grew up in Ohio, so I’m a true Midwest girl! I also love delicious food and have enjoyed it as much as I can since birth! As you can see from the above photo, I also really love BBQ.

I grew up with five brothers and one sister and have been the sassy, defiant one since birth.

I moved to New York at 19 years old to become a nanny and resided there for 19 years before moving to North Carolina in 2019.

I live in a cute little ranch-style home in the suburbs of Raleigh with my husband Arthur and our three cats – Tobias, Cashew, and Midge.

If I had my way, we would own an entire farm worth of animals, but my husband is sane and keeps me in check. It is a bit impractical to turn our home into an urban homestead.

But, I do have to say – my dreams involve a farm where I have both miniature and giant-sized animals. So, the adorability scale of this adventure would be high.

When I’m not at home testing recipes and snuggling cats, I’m usually traveling!

Travel is a huge part of my life, and I love seeing the world and what it offers! Just think – all you have to do is hop on a flight, nap, and wake up in another country!

I’m adventurous and will try any food you put before me – unless it contains my one food allergy – sesame. Sadness. RIP, hummus. You are missed.

I don’t post much travel content on the blog, but you can easily follow my many trips around the world by following me on Instagram!

Want to know more about me? Here are 20 fun facts!

  1. I love a good, rare steak (pan fried ribeye is my favorite), and steak should never, under any circumstances, be dipped in steak sauce or ketchup.
  2. Speaking of ketchup. I only eat Heinz ketchup. I grew up in a town where they bottled it, so my loyalty lies deep.
  3. My comfort movies are Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitters Dead, My Cousin Vinny, and Overboard.
  4. Mayo on French fries is elite.
  5. I used to hate flying but have learned to love it. I’m a Delta girlie, and my flight routine after boarding is anxiety medicine, The Office, and Coke Zero. It’s the perfect travel trifecta.
  6. I have a rare blood disorder called polycythemia. Not to brag, but I likely have the highest RBC, Hemoglobin, and Hematocrit of any person you have met. Unless you also have polycythemia and, in that case – blood twins!
  7. I attended a very small high school in Ohio (shout out to Old Fort High School!) and there were only 51 people in my graduating class.
  8. I want to move to London someday. It’s my favorite city worldwide, and I feel like I’m home whenever I visit.
  9. My favorite breakfast is reheated leftovers, specifically spaghetti with meat sauce or meatloaf.
  10. I own WAY too many houseplants, but don’t ask me about outdoor plants. I know nothing.
  11. I do not believe in dipping cookies into milk. I don’t know why, but it weirds me out texturally.
  12. I tell people my favorite book is The Great Gatsby, but really it is a tie between Wings by Danielle Steele and Butterfly by Kathryn Harvey.
  13. Spring and Fall are my two favorite seasons, but my favorite day of the year is the second Sunday in March when we return to Daylight Savings Time.
  14. I cannot sleep without a fan and prefer my bedroom to be no higher than 65 degrees F.
  15. I don’t particularly appreciate wearing winter jackets, so I usually wear nothing more than a light jacket all winter long. When it dips below zero, I might bust out my wool coat.
  16. I love astrology, tarot, meditation, and any online personality test.
  17. I have three tattoos: a cat on the back of my neck, a small, tiny paper airplane near my wrist, and a butterfly around my ankle.
  18. My current re-watch shows are – The Office, King of the Hill, Bob’s Burgers, and Parks & Rec.
  19. The farthest I have traveled away from home is Taiwan. The food and people are amazing, but be warned – it’s muggy and hot!
  20. The Air Fryer is my favorite kitchen gadget.
