Here is something about me that will probably make you think “wow…people can do that?” I went to nanny school. A full on, lived in a dorm, had class everyday, got grades nanny school. The school is called The English Nanny and Governess School and it’s located in Chagrin Falls, OH.

For three months I learned all there is to learn about taking care of another persons child. Everything from nutrition, psychology, literature, boating safety {you could easily land a job with a family who lands a yacht}, horse and pony safety {people love their horses} and of course martial arts. Yes, even martial arts. You have to know to protect yourself and your charges. {Charges are a fancy term for what nannies call the kids they watch}

Someday I’m going to have take a whole post to explain everything about this school. I can even show embarrassing photographs of myself in a very professional looking navy blue suit. Think Nanny 911 without the weird hats and cloak.

Now, what does this all have to do with this amazing looking drink? Well, when I was prepping for the Boozy Days of Summer I came across a map that showed me all the micro-distilleries in the US. I looked and happened to see there was one right in Chagrin Falls! I reached out and contacted the folks of Tom’s Foolery and asked them if they wanted to be featured on Nutmeg Nanny and if I could perhaps sample {and come up with an amazing tasting drink} of their product.

They sent me a small bottle of their applejack that is currently waiting to be bottled and will be sold at the end of the summer or early fall. This little distillery churns out about 150 gallons at year of applejack. Not bad for a small operation. Their applejack is simply local sourced apple cider, yeast and water. They add no sugar, color or flavoring to their products and it gets it’s color from sitting in barrels during the aging process.

Their applejack is pure and flavorful. Has a slight apple scent is perfect when paired with sweet fruit. When added to a cocktail it blends perfectly and adds just the right amount of flavor. If you live in Ohio you can probably get your hands on a bottle of Tom’s Foolery near Cleveland. If you want a bottle and don’t live near Cleveland find a friend who does and beg them to ship you a bottle. You want to try this!

If you have ever wondered it what it looks when I try to take a picture of myself drinking my cocktails you are in for a treat. Look at this little gem…sigh. I’m going to stick to taking pictures of my food.

Here in the UK the smartest Nannies come from Norland, instantly recognisable by their brown uniform, caps and white gloves. We used to see lots of them in Kensington Gardens when I was a little girl. I imagine your college was much the same :)

I googled applejack to see where I could get it in the UK. £34 a bottle wow! But even better there is a nanny agency in London called Apple Jacks! Wonder if they would be quite so sucessful if they called themselves Tequilas!!

You have some great recipes. Just need to work out how to find a cheap source of applejack.
