Ingredients for grapefruit gin fizz
- Gin – This is the only spirit in this drink and has a lovely green, herbaceous flavor.
- Grapefruit juice – Be sure to use 100% grapefruit juice and not a sugary concentrate for the best and brightest grapefruit flavor!
- Seltzer water/club soda – This will add effervescence to our drink.
- Agave syrup – Agave syrup will add a slight sweetness to help balance the tangy and tart flavors.

What is the difference between seltzer and club soda?
Seltzer is simply carbonated water that does not contain any minerals. It’s very clean tasting, and is a blank canvas for all types of flavorings you could add to it.
Club soda is carbonated water that includes minerals (like potassium bicarbonate and potassium sulfate). The minerals give it a slightly salty flavor.
Sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference, and they can absolutely be used interchangeably in this grapefruit gin fizz.
It all comes down to your preference, or what you happen to have on hand!

What is gin made from?
Gin is a clear spirit that is distilled from malt or grain and is always infused with juniper berries and then sometimes other botanicals – such as licorice, citrus, or cinnamon… the list goes on and on!
Different brands of gin have their own unique flavor from their own unique blend of botanicals, so feel free to use your favorite brand.
Making cucumber flavor gin (optional)
If you want to add even more flavor to this cocktail you can add fresh cucumber to your gin and store it in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.
Then simply remove the cucumber and you’ll be rewarded with fresh cucumber gin.

What is agave syrup?
Agave syrup is a sweetener made from the agave plant.
It has become widely available across the US and is found in grocery stores right next to the sugar!
It’s also available online.
It’s about 1.5 times sweeter than white sugar, so you can get away with using less.

Storage and leftovers
These grapefruit gin fizzes are best consumed after they’re made.
So, unfortunately, no leftovers here!
