Here I am again bringing you all the cheese and all the meat. Don’t worry, this whole platter is 100% worth it and should be made asap. How can you pass up Italian imported meats and cheeses? I also jazzed it up a bit by throwing on some seasonally appropriate fruits and my most favorite nut ever – pistachios.
Oh, I also included some imported Sicilian orange marmalade to pair with the stronger Gorgonzola Dolce DOP cheese and some crushed red pepper paste that is HOT. I mean, I know it says “crushed red pepper” but I had no idea that Italian food could be this spicy. Again, totally worth it.
If you remember a few months ago I posted an Italian Salumi Board that was BEYOND delicious. I worked with the Italian Trade Commission to bring you that beauty and I’m teaming up with them again to bring you this Ultimate Italian Antipasto Platter.
I love showing off the beauty of truly imported Italian products. If you’ve ever looked around a grocery store you’ll know that it’s easy to find a lot of “Italian” looking products that are actually not Italian.
I mean, I know you’re probably thinking “do I really care about where my food comes from?” On so many levels – YES! Yes, you should. Truly imported Italian products are highly regulated, highly delicious, and super high quality. Those are all things I love and I’m betting you do too.
That’s why you should always look for the “Made in Italy” label on products to assure they are actually from Italy.
For this Ultimate Italian Antipasto Platter, I went full on delicious and got all the goodness. For my meats, I picked up Prosciutto Toscano PDO, Speck Alto Adige PGI, Mortadella Bologna PGI, Italian Salame Piccante, and Prosciutto Cotto. Picking the cheese was hard but in the end, I went with Parmigiano Reggiano DOP Vacche Rosse, Piave Vecchio DOP, Asiago Fresco DOP, Gorgonzola Dolce PDO, and Tallegio DOP. This was also my first time actually purchasing Tallegio DOP so I had no idea how extremely fragrant it is in real life.
Good, but fragrant.
And since no Ultimate Italian Antipasto Platter would be complete without extra fixings I threw in lots of fresh fruits (have I talked about my love of fresh figs?) and a few spoonfuls of crushed red pepper paste and some Sicilian orange marmalade. Of course, the crushed red pepper paste and the marmalade were both imported from Italy.
Fun fact: the brand that makes this crushed red pepper paste calls is “stuzzichino“ which roughly translates to “nibbles” or “snacks” in Italian. Also, stuzzichino is super fun to say and is now my favorite word.
If you’re wondering where you can get true Italian products all you need to do is hit up your local Italian deli and look for the DOP and PDO stamps on the meats and cheeses to confirm their true identity. For other authentic Italian products look for the writing: Product of Italy, Made in Italy or Imported from Italy.
My local shop (shout out to Rosticceria Rossi & Sons!) actually took the time to show me all the meat and cheeses in the packaging and answered my MILLIONS of questions about what they love on their antipasto platters.
If you’re wondering what Roberto said it was “Eh, anything is fine. We like meat. We like cheese. Maybe some jam. Definitely bread. Nuts are fine.” So I went with those ideas and RAN! He did point me in the direction of the crushed red pepper paste and I’m SO HAPPY he did. That stuff is 100% legit!
And I know I said it was spicy before but it’s worth saying it again – IT’S SPICY!

- 1/2 pound Parmigiano Reggiano cheese
- 1/2 pound Piave cheese
- 1/2 pound Asiago cheese
- 1/2 pound gorgonzola cheese
- 1/2 pound Tallegio cheese
- 1/2 pound prosciutto, thinly sliced
- 1/2 pound speck, thinly sliced
- 1/2 pound Mortadella Bologna, thinly sliced
- 1/2 pound Italian Salame, sliced
- 1/2 pound Proscuitto Cotto, thinly sliced
- 1 cup pistachio nuts
- 1/4 cup imported crushed red pepper paste
- 1/4 cup imported Sicilian orange marmalade
- Fresh figs, halved
- Fresh black plums, halved and sliced
- Fresh Concord grapes
- Fresh cherry tomatoes
- Fresh seckel pears, halved and cored
- Fresh Italian bread, thinly sliced
- Italian breadsticks
- On a large platter or cutting board layout all the above items.
