Nutella, Peanut Butter and Banana Turnovers

Nutella, peanut butter and banana turnovers…say that five times fast!  No really…try. It’s not that easy.  Want to know what else is not that easy? Resisting the urge to eat them all. It was horrible. There they were. Sitting in my kitchen calling my name “Brandy….you know you want to eat me….”  It was horrible. I almost resorted to covering them in dish soap after I took pictures of them.  I figured the dish soap would stop me from eating them….

If you’re a Nutella purest you could leave out the peanut butter but I think the two pair lovely together.  I had a couple bananas laying around so I decided to throw them in the turnovers.  It was a very smart decision.   Trust me on this – nutella, peanut butter and banana mixed together is delicious.  You should probably run into the kitchen and make this right away. You will thank me :)

Nutella, Peanut Butter and Banana Turnovers:

1 square of puff pastry – thawed
1 egg
2 tablespoons water
1/2 cup Nutella
1/4 cup peanut butter
1 banana – sliced
cinnamon sugar

Preheat oven to 450 degrees.

Roll out thawed puff pastry to a square.  Cut into 4 equal parts. Set aside onto a silpat lined baking sheet.

Beat egg and water together until mixed. Set aside.

Mix nutella and peanut butter together.  Place 1/4 of nutella peanut butter mixture on each piece of pastry. Being careful not to place the mixture to close to the edge.  If you do the mixture will come out of the sides when you attempt to fold it over.

Place four slices of banana onto the nutella peanut butter mixture and lightly sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.

Using a pastry brush, lightly brush sides of pastry with egg wash.  Fold over to make a triangle and press sides together with a fork. Brush the top of the turnovers with egg wash and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.  Cut a small hole into the top of the turnover.

Put into the oven and cook for approximately 15 minutes. Until the turnovers are golden brown and delicious.

The filling will be very hot so please let the turnovers rest for a few minutes before devouring.

According to the Weight Watchers Recipe Builder this turnover is 10 points + for one. Don’t eat to many!

  1. This looks fantastic. I have to try it.

  2. All I need is a few bananas and I can make these right away! My husband LOVES Nutella!

When I make something I know I shouldn’t eat, I enjoy one slice then I give the rest away. If no one in my family wants it, I cut it up and bring it to work. My coworkers are happy and I save a few calories.

  3. Utter genius! So how many points was one? I bet it was better than a piece of cake or pie. I like eating things like this for breakfast b/c my appetite is lower and if I combine it with a cup of coffee, I feel pretty satisfied. Whereas, if I ate one after dinner, I would have to eat the whole plate. :)

  4. P.S. Did you see the episode of Sex and the City where Miranda had to squirt dishsoap all over a chocolate cake b/c she was craving so bad she almost started to eat it after she put it in the trash? LOL! I thought it was a great idea. :)

  5. Those sound amazing! And guess who has some frozen puff pastry waiting to be used. Thanks for the awesome recipe :)

I would not be one bit tempted. The look WONDERFUL….but I am not a banana and peanut butter girl, or a nutella girl. Good thing, because I am certainly married to a nutella and banana boy. I will NOT let him close to this computer screen. :)

  13. I always thought apple turnovers were the best there were, but now that I’ve seen these, I’m thinking twice. This sounds like an awesome combo for a filling and eating them warm with all that gooey deliciousness oozing out would put me in seventh heaven. I’m starting a new linky on my blog this week Saturday called “Sweets for a Saturday.” If you get a chance, I’d like to invite you to come by and link these up.
