Apple Pie Smoothie Bowl

This apple pie smoothie bowl tastes just like apple pie without all the calories found in the traditional dessert. It’s topped with fresh-cut apples, apple pie spice, granola, chia seeds, and dried cranberries. Since it’s ready in under 10 minutes it’s the perfect way to start your day!

I’ve talked about this about a million times but I’m a horrible breakfast eater.

I get up, I start working, and then boom – it’s noon.

How in the heck did it become noon and how in the heck did I forget to eat?

Honestly, I have no idea.

I wake up hungry but with zero energy to actually make food so I’m assuming my hunger receptors just turn off.

I mean…is that a thing? Hunger receptors?

I’m pretty sure I make up half of what I talk about in these posts.

However, I’m not making up the fact that this smoothie bowl is amazing.

I remember the first time I saw a smoothie bowl. I literally said to myself “what in the heck is a smoothie bowl?”

Obviously, I had heard of smoothies but a smoothie…in a bowl?

Well little did I know they are pretty awesome.

Wanna know why?

Well as great as smoothies taste you can’t really load them down with toppings.

It’s pretty hard to suck granola and fresh chopped apples via a straw.

But lucky for all of us, I decided to give in to the trend and embrace this crazy thing we call a smoothie bowl.

Or really I guess we could call it breakfast soup.

This version tastes just like apple pie but without all the typical dessert calories and zero baking.

It is super simple to make and just involves a few simple (probably on hand!) ingredients.

You could always jazz this up whatever way you prefer but I went with fresh tart apples, Greek yogurt, 1 banana (for that thick creamy banana vibe it brings to smoothies), apple pie spice, and a touch of almond milk.

After I gave it a whirl in my Vitamix I topped it with granola, chia seeds, fresh chopped apples, cranberries, and just a sprinkling of apple pie spice.

Also, can you believe that this is the first time I have ever posted a smoothie on Nutmeg Nanny?

It’s like I’m living under a rock.

Let’s hope this does well so I can have an excuse to make all. the. smoothie. bowls.

I forget to eat a lot. Not a morning eater, and with my illness eating = pain. So I tend to eat once a day. I hate it. I'd like to eat all the live long day.

I'd like to eat this all the live long day. This is beautiful. Perfect for this time of year too. Go smoothie girl. Looking forward to more.
