This bourbon and ginger ale cocktail is super simple and a fun twist to your usual straight-up bourbon. If you’re feeling spicy you can add in ginger beer instead of ginger ale. Don’t forget to add in the bourbon barrel-aged bitters for an extra dash of flavor!

It wasn’t until a while ago that I realized bourbon rocked my boozy world.
I have always been somewhat of a gin and often turned my nose at the thought of drinking anything brown.
I blame this on the fact that the only bourbon I ever had was the cheap stuff my dad would put in a hot toddy when I was sick.
A hot toddy is almost better than NyQuil.
It’s a natural way of getting your body back into shape.

So, fast forward to a couple of years ago and I went on a tour of Tuthilltown Spirits.
They were nice enough to give me a bottle of baby bourbon and I have been milking it ever since.
Once I realize how delicious something can be I do the exact opposite of most people.
Instead of having it whenever I want I hoard it.
I only use it for special occasions or for when I absolutely must have bourbon.

Although this drink is simple the flavors are elevated by the use of Fee Brothers whiskey barrel aged bitters.
These things are amazing. I know I said this yesterday, but seriously folks.
Bitters are amazing and need to become a part of your everyday bar setup.
Depending on your love of ginger flavor you can make this drink with ginger ale or ginger beer.
I especially love it when mixed with a nice spicy ginger beer.

1. I do the exact same thing with stuff I love. For example, the 45 year old balsamic vinegar I lugged back from Italy last September…it’s still untouched in the cabinet.
2. I think we need our next lunch get together at your place where you make Winnie and I all the drinks from this Boozy Summer thing. We’ll bring the food, just get us drunk.
I RARELY drink booze, but I love me some gingerale…so I may just like this!
This looks awesome!
I need to jump on the bitters bandwagon. I know they do amazing things – i just haven’t invested any yet! That, clearly, needs to change!!
I think this drink would get me in a lot of trouble!
OH I’m adding this to my cocktail rotation!
Oh I do love me some bourbon, specially to sip on slowly since I’m such a lightweight drinker! Love the pairing with ginger beer!
Mmmm this sounds delicious, I could go for this right now…even though it’s only 11AM 😛
Even though I ADORE bourbon, I don’t have any at home. This must be remedied immediately so that I can make this drink!
Bourbon and ginger ale is one of my favorite drinks, though I don’t add bitters… Just Maker’s Mark and Canada Dry! My brother, my cousins and I generally go through a lot of these when we get together, it’s a family favorite. 🙂
