These homemade Christmas tree brownies are deliciously simple and perfect for Christmas! Cut into triangles, decorate, and devour!

I love fun and festive holiday desserts, and these little Christmas tree brownies are just that! I made homemade brownies, but you can use boxed brownies, and they will turn out just as delicious.
I kept decorations simple, using frosting dyed green and a few fun and festive sprinkles. The best part is that you can use whatever you have on hand.
If you want to jazz up your brownies further, you could mix in chocolate, butterscotch, or white chocolate chips. You could also chop up and throw in some pecans, walnuts, or hazelnuts.
This festive treat is a blank canvas for your creativity. I’ve even thrown in extra crushed peppermint candy, which adds a nice peppermint twist.

Ingredients needed
- All-purpose flour
- Unsweetened cocoa powder
- Kosher salt
- Unsalted butter
- Semisweet chocolate
- Brown sugar
- Eggs
- Vanilla extract
- Frosting
- Sprinkles
- Candy cane sticks
How to cut Christmas tree brownies
Cutting the brownies is a lot easier than it might look!
- Remove your full tray of brownies from the pan.
- Cut into four equal slices widthwise. I typically cut the brownies entirely in half and then cut each half in half. Remember to cut the brownies widthwise.
- Cut each long slice of brownie into four little triangles.
- That’s it! How simple and easy.

My Pro Tips
Christmas Tree Brownie Recipe Tips
Cut your Christmas trees to any size you desire. I think 16 triangles are the perfect party size, but feel free to make them larger and serve them with a scoop of ice cream.
Use box brownies for an even quicker dessert! Make sure to use a brownie mix that makes a 9×13 tray of brownies.
Line your baking dish with parchment paper for easy removal. You can also line the pan with foil and spray non-stick spray.
If you can’t find mini candy cane sticks, you can break the top off a miniature candy cane.
Storage and leftovers
For optimal freshness, you can store any leftover brownies in an airtight container on the counter for up to 3 days.

- In a small mixing bowl whisk together flour, unsweetned cocoa powder, and kosher salt and set aside.
- In a 12-inch skillet, add butter and place over medium heat.
- Once the butter is melted, add the chocolate chips and stir to gently melt the chocolate. The mixture should not be bubbling, so make sure to keep your heat at medium or medium-low.
- Once melted, remove from the heat and let cool slightly.
- Whisk in brown sugar until combined.
- Add eggs one at a time, whisking thourougly in each addition.
- Mix in vanilla extract.
- Add the chocolate mixture to the flour and fold to combine.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30 minutes until fully cooked.

- Stick one mini candy cane stick into the bottom of the triangle, frost or pipe on frosting, and decorate with sprinkles.
Notes
- If you don’t want to make homemade brownies, you can use boxed mixes. Make sure you’re using a boxed mix that makes a 9×13 tray.
- You can make your favorite buttercream recipe or use a store-bought frosting for the frosting.
- I used green gel food coloring to dye my frosting.
- If you don’t let the brownies cool they risk breaking when you cut them into triangles.
