Nutella, peanut butter and banana turnovers…say that five times fast!  No really…try. It’s not that easy.  Want to know what else is not that easy? Resisting the urge to eat them all. It was horrible. There they were. Sitting in my kitchen calling my name “Brandy….you know you want to eat me….”  It was horrible. I almost resorted to covering them in dish soap after I took pictures of them.  I figured the dish soap would stop me from eating them….

If you’re a Nutella purest you could leave out the peanut butter but I think the two pair lovely together.  I had a couple bananas laying around so I decided to throw them in the turnovers.  It was a very smart decision.   Trust me on this – nutella, peanut butter and banana mixed together is delicious.  You should probably run into the kitchen and make this right away. You will thank me 🙂

Nutella Peanut Butter Banana and Turnovers

These super simple Nutella peanut butter and banana turnovers are the perfect weekday dessert. From start to finish ready in just 25 minutes. Hello dessert!

Yield: 4 servings

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 15 minutes

Total Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 square of puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1/2 cup Nutella
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter
  • 1 banana, sliced
  • Cinnamon sugar

Directions:

Preheat oven to 450 degrees.

Roll out thawed puff pastry to a square. Cut into 4 equal parts. Set aside onto a silpat lined baking sheet.

Beat egg and water together until mixed. Set aside.

Mix Nutella and peanut butter together. Place 1/4 of Nutella peanut butter mixture on each piece of pastry. Being careful not to place the mixture to close to the edge. If you do the mixture will come out of the sides when you attempt to fold it over.

Place four slices of banana onto the Nutella peanut butter mixture and lightly sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.

Using a pastry brush, lightly brush sides of pastry with egg wash. Fold over to make a triangle and press sides together with a fork. Brush the top of the turnovers with egg wash and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Cut a small hole into the top of the turnover.

Put into the oven and cook for approximately 15 minutes. Until the turnovers are golden brown and delicious.

The filling will be very hot so please let the turnovers rest for a few minutes before devouring.

Nutella is new to me. I tried it because of a challenge and am loving it. I am tempted to take your suggestion and make one of these right now :)

my bakery serves fruit-filled turnovers, but i think i may suggest an alternative...namely, chocolate-peanut-butter stuffed ones. :)
