Air Fryer FAQ

Using different fillings
If you’re adding vegetables (mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, etc.), I recommend cooking them first instead of adding them raw.
This is because they will give off a lot of moisture and can stop the hot pocket from crisping up.
More great filling ideas:
- Ham and cheddar cheese
- Leftover taco meat with shredded cheese
- Bacon and ranch
- Vegetable supreme with bell peppers, mushrooms, onions, and olives
- Sausage and peppers

Why use puff pastry
I like puff pastry because it results in a buttery, flakey crust. I think this is better than the store-bought hot pocket crust.
The best part is that puff pastry is available in most US grocery stores. It is typically found near the frozen desserts or pie crust section.
It is usually sold in a box with two puff pastry sheets, which you use for this recipe.
The most common brand you see in my grocery store is Pepperidge Farm.

Air Fryer Pizza Hot Pockets

Ingredients
- 1 box puff pastry sheets, 2 full sheets
- 8 ounce jar pizza sauce
- 5 ounce bag mini pepperoni slices
- 1/2 cup cooked sausage crumbles
- 1/4 cup fresh mozzarella pearls
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
Instructions
- Set the puff pastry sheets laid out on a lightly floured cutting board and let thaw for about 10 minutes.
- Cut each puff pastry sheet lengthwise into 3 pieces, then cut horizontally down the middle to make 6 equal pieces per puff pastry sheet.
- Spread 2 tbsp of marinara sauce onto the center of 6 puff pastry sheets.
- Add a spoonful of mini pepperoni, mozzarella pearls, and sausage crumbles.
- Add the remaining pastry squares on top of the filling. Press the edges to seal with your finger, then use a fork and press down lightly around the edges.
- To the melted butter add minced garlic, basil, and sea salt. Whisk to combine.
- Brush the puff pastry with garlic butter.
- Cook in the air fryer at 350 degrees F for 15 minutes. Flipping is optional, I found it to be unnecessary for these.
- Serve with remaining marinara sauce as a dip and enjoy!
