This apple streusel bread is moist and delicious, baked up with apples and cinnamon, and sprinkled with a sweet streusel topping.

If you ask me, there’s nothing better than the delicious smells of apples and cinnamon coming from the kitchen on a fall day.
This apple streusel bread has a moist and tender crumb, using butter and common baking ingredients (flour, baking powder, eggs, and salt,) mixed with warm cinnamon and diced juicy apples.
And don’t forget the best part: the sugary and crunchy streusel topping!
It’s the perfect slice with a cup of coffee for breakfast, brunch with friends, or as a sweet treat for dessert.
This apple streusel bread is truly a slice of autumn in every bite!

- Ground cinnamon – Ground cinnamon will add warmth to the apple streusel bread.
- Baking powder – Baking powder will keep the bread fluffy and light.
- Kosher salt – Kosher salt is necessary in baked goods to help balance all of the flavors and cut through the sweetness.

Variations
This apple streusel bread is 100% delicious on its own, but it’s always fun to add a little bit extra. Here are some great ideas to change it up:
- Serve the slices with fresh whipped cream, or a drizzle of vanilla glaze.
- Add some chopped pecans or walnuts to the batter.
- To turn it into a decadent dessert, serve alongside a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Apple varieties
In your local grocery store, there’s usually a huge variety of apples to choose from!
So how do you know which ones will be best for this apple streusel bread?
My favorite type of apple to use for this recipe is Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, Braeburn, or Fuji because they are the perfect sweet and tangy cooking apple.
I would stay away from McIntosh, Gala, or Red Delicious. These are often mealy apples, and not very good to use in this application.

Freeze for later
This apple streusel bread can be made ahead of time and frozen!
Simply bake as directed, and cool completely.
Wrap the cooled apple streusel bread in plastic wrap, and then a layer of aluminum foil, and place in the freezer for up to 3 months.
To thaw, simply leave it at room temperature.
Storage and leftovers
Any leftover apple streusel bread can be stored on the counter for up to 3 days.

Apple Streusel Bread
This apple streusel bread is moist and delicious, baked up with apples and cinnamon, and sprinkled with a sweet streusel topping.
Ingredients
For bread:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1-1/2 cups Granny Smith apples, diced
For streusel topping:
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup dark brown sugar
- 8 tablespoons unsalted butter, cold, cut into small cubes
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
Instructions
For bread:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and spray a 9x5 loaf pan with non-stick spray and set aside.
- In a medium-sized mixing bowl whisk together all-purpose flour, ground cinnamon, baking soda, and kosher salt, and set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl with a hand-held mixer or the bowl of an electric mixer, add granulated sugar and unsalted butter and cream together until light in color and fluffy.
- Add in eggs and incorporate fully.
- Mix in milk and vanilla extract.
- Fold in apples until incorporated.
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan, add half of the streusel topping on top of half the batter, carefully add the remaining half of the batter to the top of the streusel, and spread evenly over the top.
- Add the remaining streusel topping over the top of the batter.
- Bake for about 60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean when tested in the center of the bread. A few dried breadcrumbs on the bread is ok but you should see no liquid batter on the toothpick.
- Let the bread rest for 15 minutes in the pan and then remove the bread from the pan and let cool on a wire rack.
- When fully cooled, slice and enjoy.
For streusel:
- Add all ingredients to a mixing bowl and either using a fork, or your hands, mix together until crumbly and combined. This mixture will resemble wet sand.
- Set aside until ready to be used.
