This fresh grapefruit margarita is packed full of grapefruit and lime flavor. Serve it on the rocks or frozen – either way is totally delicious!

After I took these photos I thought to myself “Ughhhhhhhhh you made a grapefruit margarita and didn’t salt the damn rim!” Rookie mistake.
Even though I’m not really a rookie in the cocktail department it was still n00b move.
Although to be honest I didn’t even miss the salted rim.
I also garnished with a little mint because I loved the way the pink color of the drink popped with that green mint. It’s so pretty, right?!
Plus I just lightly sweetened this baby with a Truvia spoonable sweetener.
I like to add just a little so I get the perfect balance of sweet and tart but feel free to make this baby as sweet as you like.
I also love that this is a simple drink made with simple ingredients.
Typically when I put together a recipe it’s a laundry list of ingredients. Nope. Not with this recipe. Less ingredients BUT big time flavor.
Pretty much my theme for this year – LESS! Less clutter, less mess and less stress!
I know everyone wants to make those changes but it’s going to happen in my life ASAP.
It’s time to get all the thing in my life that stressing me out, out of my life! Who’s with me?
Also these cocktails were needed BADLY this week. If you’re not a pet lover you’re probably gonna read my next paragraph and be like “OMG you’re insane” but really I’m not crazy (ok maybe a tiny bit crazy) I just love my cats.
I ended up having to put my little nugget Bennie Boo Boo in the animal ICU this week. She ended up getting really sick and almost ended up dying.

By the time I got her to the animal hospital her temperature had dropped to 92 and her blood pressure was in the 40’s. If you’re wondering what “normal” is for a cats it’s a temperature of 100-102 and blood pressure in the 120’s.
Basically she was in bad shape and when they took her away from me to put her on heat support I just about lost my ish and cried like a baby in the examine room while they tried to ask me if I wanted them to perform CPR on her if her little heart gave out.
These are not questions I was prepared to answer. I mean of course I did but in that moment I literally thought to myself “where are my parents? I’m not old enough to make decisions like this…”
The good news is that after almost 3 days in the hospital she is finally home.
She is still sick and I have to keep a very watchful eye on her BUT she is definitely doing better.
But after I saw the bill (she is totally worth but still it’s so. much. money.) I needed one of these margs in my life.
Really I needed like 40 of these in my life but I settled for just 2.
{My wonderful friend Jenni of Pastry Chef Online set up a GoFundMe for Bennie and I can’t thank her enough! Jenni actually fostered Bennie for the first very rough 10 months of her life.}

Poor little kitty! I would make margaritas too to calm my nerves!
So sorry to hear about your cat. I’m glad she’s home where she’s sure to get crazy (and deserved) amounts of TLC. Great recipe — perfect to help unwind. Hope you’re doing ok, too!
Salt or no salt it’s a beautiful drink! I hope your kitty feels better soon 🙂
I am relieved Bennie is coming around. That must have been horrible. We had a serious scare with one of the horses this month and I was a mess. I didn’t think she’d pull through and I was just inconsolable for hours. I think I freaked all the other horses in the barn out with all the loud sobbing. Luckily she pulled through, but it was days of no sleep and vet visits. I have so much empathy for what you’re been through this week. You and Bennie are soul mates, and I’m thrilled to know things are looking up. Spark says to tell her he loves her and is so happy she’s okay.
I think this margarita is the perfect drink for a rough week. You deserve one, or ten, after everything you’ve been through. I have to say I didn’t even notice the salt thing, it’s such a beautiful drink. I could drink this all day long.
Isn’t it crazy how these little balls of fluff so quickly wrap themselves around our hearts and nuzzle in? I was on the phone after a stressful day myself last night telling my step-mom I was in strong need of a cocktail and explaining all bout lil Benz to her (sent her a link as well!). Good timing on the cocktail. Let’s just sit back and enjoy it before any more stress falls down the trail for us right?
I’m so sorry about your cat! But I’m happy she’s home. I’ve never had a pet and part of the reason is that I think I couldn’t handle situations like that. 🙁 I hope she’s 100% better soon!
And I feel for you with the salted rim thing. I never realize this stuff until I’m editing the pictures and the post is all written. Every. Time.
These are seriously gorgeous, and I wouldn’t miss the salted rim one bit, either. I’m happy that Bennie is home with you again. I would have been right there with you…bawling, scared, looking for some adultier than myself (happens more than I’d like to admit). Give that kitty a big smooch!
What a gorgeous margarita! I don’t think it needs the salt either! 🙂
I’ll take a pitcher! On the rocks, frozen – doesn’t matter!
I’m so happy to hear that Benz is taking a turn for the better. I’d go nuts if Sir Pugsley got sick, so I totally hear where you are coming from. Our fur babies are part of the family and I’ll definitely do whatever for him! You deserve this margarita (or 3). It’s gorgeous!
