Do you need a fun cocktail for your next holiday party?

This peppermint white Russian takes a classic white Russian–with vodka, half-and-half, and coffee liqueur–and adds a fun twist with peppermint schnapps!

Dressing up the glasses with rims of melted white chocolate and crushed candy canes makes them extra adorable and delicious. It’s the perfect combination of sweet and minty.

Spreading a little holiday cheer with these deliciously decadent peppermint white Russians is easy!

Ingredients for peppermint white Russian

For cocktail:

  • Vodka – This is a clean-tasting, somewhat flavorless alcohol that is the base of our cocktail.
  • Coffee liqueur – Coffee liqueur will impart a delicious coffee flavor, and add sweetness to the cocktail.
  • Half and half – Half and half will give the cocktail a luscious texture (and half the fat of using heavy cream alone).
  • Peppermint schnapps – Peppermint schnapps is a grain alcohol that has been infused with peppermint flavorings. It will give us that classic minty fresh, candy cane flavor!

For glass garnishes:

  • White chocolate – White chocolate is sweet and creamy, and will pair perfectly with the minty flavors of the cocktail.
  • Crushed candy canes – Crushed candy canes will be like a little treat on the side of the glass and will also help emphasize the minty flavors.

Make ahead

The best parties are ones where you aren’t scrambling to get everything done and can relax and enjoy your guests.

So think ahead!

You can prepare the glasses with their white chocolate rims for your peppermint white Russians a day before, and simply keep them on a cookie sheet in the refrigerator so they stay nice and cold until you’re ready to use them.

Toppings

Here are some of my favorite toppings for this tasty beverage:

  • A candy cane hanging on the side of the glass
  • Whipped cream
  • Ground nutmeg, or cinnamon, sprinkled on top

Dairy-free

Can’t have dairy? No problem!

You can easily switch out the half and half with a dairy-free substitute, just be sure that it’s an “unsweetened” variety so it doesn’t add any extra sugar.
