What kind of ground beef should you use for meatloaf?
When you’re looking at ground beef, there are a lot of different kinds to choose from. So how do you know which one will be best for meatloaf?
When you see a number like 85/15 on a package of ground beef, that means 85% of the meat mixture is lean beef, and 15% of it is fat.
My favorite ground beef to use for meatloaf is anything between 85/15 and 90/10.
Anything fattier, like a 75/25 would have too much fat, and the meatloaf would shrink significantly and be unpleasantly greasy.
Anything leaner, like a 93/7 would be too lean, and you would risk the meatloaf being dry and tough.
What is Italian seasoning?
Italian seasoning is usually a blend of herbs like dried basil, rosemary, oregano, parsley, and thyme.
You can feel free to make your own blend of herbs to your personal preference!
What to serve with BBQ glazed meatloaf?
Meatloaf is such a great main course, there are tons of delicious complimentary sides.
My favorite side is tried and true Instant Pot Mashed Potatoes. For a little extra green, I also like to serve it with Roasted Asparagus or Air Fryer Brussels Sprouts.
