Ingredients for frozen Aperol spritz

  • Aperol – This is the star of this cocktail and cannot be substituted. You can find Aperol at any store that sells spirits.
  • Prosecco – Prosecco will add a bright bubbliness to our cocktail.
  • Orange juice – Be sure to get the highest-quality orange juice you can. Although this cocktail only has a few ingredients, everyone counts!
  • Ice – Ice will help turn our cocktail into a slushy consistency.

How to make

The best thing about a frozen cocktail is how easy they are to make! I like using a nice high-powered blender for my frozen drinks, so it’s smooth and not chunky.

  1. Add Aperol, Prosecco, orange juice, and ice in a blender.
  2. Blend until smooth and frosty and pour into a serving glass.
  3. How easy is that?

My Pro Tips

Recipe Tips

  • Please don’t make it in advance because it will melt and get watered down before serving.
  • Aperol has a slightly bitter flavor, so to make a sweeter cocktail, add a few ounces of simple syrup or use a sweet Prosecco.
  • Using freshly squeezed orange juice will give you the brightest, freshest flavor.
  • To make this less sweet, use unsweetened orange-flavored seltzer water instead of the Prosecco.

What to serve with a frozen Aperol spritz?

Because it is an aperitivo, it is usually consumed before the meal has begun and is perfect for serving with some appetizers.

So, serving your guests this frozen aperol spritz would go great with bread and roasted garlic whipped feta, caprese bruschetta, or even a classic French onion dip!

FAQ’s

Aperol is a bright orange Italian aperitivo consumed before a meal to help stimulate your appetite. The recipe for Aperol is highly guarded, but some known ingredients include gentian, rhubarb, and cinchona. Aperol is a medley of blended flavors consisting of citrus, slightly bitter, sweet, and herbaceous.

The Aperol spritz is a trendy cocktail in Europe (especially in Italy) and has become popular in the States in the past few years! It can be found to be purchased in most liquor stores.

If you want to cut calories, try replacing the orange juice with orange-flavored unsweetened seltzer water.

You can also try to find a lower-calorie Prosecco.

Champagne and prosecco are both bubbly alcoholic beverages, but they have very slight and specific differences.

Aside from the types of grapes they’re made from, Champagne can only be called such if it comes from the Champagne region of France, whereas Prosecco comes from Italy.

Champagne also has smaller, finer bubbles, whereas prosecco bubbles are larger.

You could also replace both with soda water!

You can combine the prosecco, aperol, and orange juice, but don’t blend with ice until before serving. If you make it too far in advance, the ice will melt and become watery.

They are not the same and could be used interchangeably, but they WILL CHANGE the flavor and alcohol content of the drink.

Aperol is sweeter and less bitter than Campari. It also contains about half the alcohol of Campari. Aperol is traditionally used as a compliment to drinks versus being the main star. They could be used in place of each other, but the drink flavor will change.
