Ingredients for cheesy grilled peach jalapeño turkey burger

For burger:

  • Ground turkey – Lean and packed with protein, ground turkey is a great choice for these burgers.
  • Garlic – A classic addition that will add earthiness to the burger.
  • Jalapeño – The jalapeño will be where our heat comes from.
  • Cheddar cheese – Cheddar cheese is strong in flavor and melts beautifully.
  • Panko breadcrumbs – Panko is dryer and crispier than traditional breadcrumbs and will help the burgers stay together.
  • Cilantro – A burst of fresh herbaceous flavor.
  • Peaches – Fresh peaches are a must here, not frozen or canned.

For aioli:

  • Mayonnaise – Feel free to use your favorite store-bought variety.
  • Lime juice and zest – This will give us a citrusy burst of flavor.
  • Cilantro – A burst of fresh herbaceous flavor.

Alternative proteins

Now, to keep these burgers light on calories, I used lean ground turkey.

Another great lean ground meat to use would be chicken or pork!

Both will maintain a lower calorie content and absorb the delicious flavors.

Just remember, the less fat in the meat, the easier it is to dry out! So make sure not to over-grill your burgers.

I like to use an instant read thermometer to make sure my meat is fully cooked without being overcooked.

Spice level

You can control the spice level in these cheesy grilled peach jalapeño turkey burgers.

The heat in a jalapeño pepper comes from the seeds and the ribs, which are the white parts to which the seeds are attached.

By removing the seeds and the ribs, you significantly lower the spiciness of the pepper.

Alternatively, leaving the seeds and ribs intact will maintain all the heat!

Make ahead

Seriously, no need to stress the day before your big backyard summer party!

Very quickly, you can make these burgers in advance!

Mix the ingredients, form the patties, and keep them covered in the refrigerator for up to a day before your big event.

Then, on the day of the party or get-together, you’ll need to put them on the grill, and you’re good to go!

Storage and leftovers

The aioli can be stored in an airtight container and kept in the refrigerator for up to 7 days.

I like to use the leftover aioli on a Turkey and Cheese BLT Sandwich or a Summertime Tomato Sandwich.

The cooked burgers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to four days.

Lastly, to reheat burgers, simply place them on a microwave-safe dish covered loosely with a damp paper towel and heat 2-3 minutes or until heated thoroughly.

And, if you’re feeling fancy, give your bun a little toast in a toaster oven.
