Hot Ham And Cheese Sandwiches For A Crowd
I’m a big fan of Super Bowl food. The football? Not so much.
I have zero interest in the game, so I focus all my attention on the football snacks. Usually I’m a chili girl, but I also love making Oven Baked Chili Cheese Dogs, Charred Triple Onion Dip, and Sausage Spinach Mushroom Phyllo Bites.
This year I tried out a little something different in the football food department. These sweet ham and cheese sliders are delicious little nuggets of happiness, whether you are having a Super Bowl party, a casual movie or game night, or just a few friends over for a glass of wine.
Mini ham and cheese sliders are just the right size for finger food snacking and they are easy to make assembly-line style.

Apple Butter and Hot Ham and Cheese Sandwich: Perfect Together
I made this recipe for hot ham and cheese sandwiches with potato rolls (my favorite!), but they are also fantastic with King’s Hawaiian rolls. I loaded the rolls up with Swiss cheese, smoked ham and Musselman’s apple butter.
The combination was snacking perfection.
Before the little buns went into the oven they were brushed with melted butter mixed with Dijon mustard, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce and poppy seeds.
This recipe is a classic take on the ever popular baked ham and cheese sandwich but with a sweet apple butter kick.
Trust me, you’ll fall head over heels in love with ham and cheese party sandwiches.

Ingredients You’ll Need
- 12 count slider size potato rolls
- 1/2 cup Musselman’s apple butter
- 2 teaspoons whole grain mustard
- 9 thin slices Swiss cheese, cut into quarters
- 1/2 pound thinly sliced smoked deli ham
- 5 tablespoons melted unsalted butter
- 2 teaspoons creamy Dijon mustard
- 2 teaspoons poppy seeds
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
How To Make Hot Ham And Cheese Sandwiches In The Oven
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. In a small bowl whisk together apple butter and whole grain mustard.
Open the rolls and spread a thin layer of the apple butter mixture on the inside top and bottom of each roll.
Place 2 quarters of cheese on the inside bottom of each roll then top each with an equal amount of thinly sliced deli ham. Finally, top each sandwich with 1 quarter slice of the remaining cheese.
Put the tops on the sandwiches and place them into either a 9×13 baking dish or a 9×13 rimmed baking sheet. I’m totally LOVING this new 9×13 sheet pan I bought. It’s the perfect size!
In a small bowl mix together melted butter, Dijon mustard, poppy seeds, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder. Using a pastry brush, brush the tops of the rolls with the butter mixture until it’s all been used.
Put the pan in the oven and bake for about 20 minutes or until the tops are slightly golden and the cheese is melted.
