Homemade Pizza is Easy!
Can we talk about how much I freaking love pizza?
I love making it with red sauce or a simple olive oil sauce. Sometimes it’s a deep dish and sometimes I spread it super thin to create a perfectly crisp, but slightly chewy crust.
If you fear a homemade pizza recipe, you need to stop all the worrying right now. It’s beyond easy to find fresh pizza dough at the store and all you do is spread it out, top it with deliciousness and give it a bake.
Seriously, it takes just about 30 minutes from start to finish to make homemade pizza.
How to Use Apple Butter on Pizza
You wanna know what’s in this beautiful pizza?
Instead of a traditional sauce, I decided to use Musselman’s apple butter. Yep, apple butter.
I have been finding so many amazing apple butter uses lately! For this pizza recipe, the apple butter brings a nice, sweet flavor that’s unique and delicious.
I wondered, what cheese does apple butter go with? After some experimenting, I found that a strong blue cheese and salty pancetta are the perfect match.
Toss some arugula on top to bring in a fresh element with a pop of peppery flavor.
Ingredients You’ll Need
Here’s what you’ll need to make this apple butter pizza, but it’s totally customizable, so feel free to add any other toppings you like!
- 1 pound pizza dough
- 1/2 cup apple butter
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, divided
- 1/2 apple, thinly sliced
- 4 ounces cubed pancetta, lightly browned
- 1/2 cup blue cheese, divided
- 1 cup arugula
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
How to Make Apple Butter Pizza
This 30-minute meal is perfect for any night of the week. Start by preheating your oven to 425 degrees F and lining a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or Silpat liner. You can also use a round pizza pan or pizza stone.
Stretch out the dough until it’s almost the size of the pan. Tip: If you let your dough rest at room temperature for a few hours it’s easier to stretch.
Spread the apple butter on the dough, then top with mozzarella and blue cheeses, apple slices, and pancetta.
Bake for about 18-20 minutes.
While the pizza is cooking, toss the arugula with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. When the pizza dough is cooked and the top is browned, remove from the oven and top with the arugula and more blue cheese.
Cool slightly to allow the cheese to set, then cut into slices and enjoy!
