This grilled pound cake is perfect for brunch or dessert – buttery pound cake grilled to crispy perfection and topped with ice cream, whipped cream, or berries.

When I was a kid, I spent many summers in Georgia.
My stepmother’s family lived there, and I always had a blast visiting. I spent my days exploring the mountains, drinking fresh, natural spring water, picking fresh watercress from the backyard stream, and waking up early every morning to feed apples to the horses down the lane.
I spent my nights playing Rook and eating WAY TOO MANY canned figs. It was the perfect feral kid summer. However, my great Aunt Sarah always had two rules – take a packed lunch with you before exploring and always eat breakfast.
She packed me a grilled pound cake with fresh fruit for breakfast one morning. It was easy for her to use up the pound cake from the night before, and it started my obsession with all things pound cake-related.
The great thing about grilled poundcake is that it elevates the buttery flavors even more. It is tender and slightly buttery with crispy edges that pair perfectly with the sweetness of blueberry compote, ice cream, whipped cream, or eaten plain.

My Pro Tips
Recipe Tips
- Use store-bought pound cake to make things even easier. Your best options are the frozen pound cakes (Sara Lee makes a pretty famous one) or buying the store bakery pound cake.
- Make the cake a few hours beforehand and store it in an airtight zip-top baggie. This will keep the cake moist and fresh while saving you time at dessert.
- This is a great use for leftover pound cake and leftover macerated strawberries.
- You can use an outdoor grill (a perfect camping recipe) or an indoor grill pan. Either option will work well for this recipe.

These pictures SCREAM warm sunny days! And I am in desperate need of that. Grilled pound cake sounds right up my ally.
And I was known to be let loose into the wild a few times as well as a child. I guess we are both lucky the animals didn’t snack on us instead ;D
