These roasted chicken legs are a simple dinner recipe to please the whole family. They are roasted until the skin is crispy and flavored with Italian blend seasoning.

Sometimes, there is nothing better than a classic roasted chicken leg. It’s a simple, humble dinner but can be packed with flavor and pairs perfectly with vegetables and carb-loaded sides.

I’m using a simple mix of Italian seasoning, kosher salt, black pepper, and olive oil. But you can switch it up to include any of your favorite spices or spice blends.

  • Give it a Mexican flair using cumin, chili powder, and smoked paprika.
  • Go Middle Eastern by using sumac, allspice, and cumin.
  • Add in white pepper and Chinese five spice for an Asian kick.

How to make roasted chicken legs

  1. In a small bowl, mix the olive oil and spices.
  2. Rub it on the chicken drumsticks and set them on a rimmed baking sheet pan.
  3. Bake in the oven until the skin is crispy, and the chicken is 165 degrees F internally.
  4. Enjoy hot with your favorite side dishes!

Side dish options

My favorite side to serve with chicken is Instant Pot Mashed Potatoes. Creamy, buttery, salty – what can’t a mashed potato do? However, it’s also great when served with The Best Baked Sweet Potatoes.

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
  • In a small bowl add oil and spices and mix together to create a paste. Rub the spiced mixture thoroughly over all the chicken legs.
  • Place the chicken legs onto a sheet pan and cook in the oven for 30-35 minutes until the skin is crispy and the chicken is fully cooked – 165 degrees F internally.
  • When cooked, remove from the oven, let the chicken rest for a few minutes, and enjoy!
