My personal favorite is extra toasted marshmallows sandwiched between chocolate-covered pretzels and topped with a bite of fresh strawberry.

So delicious!

Make sure to read the whole post to learn any tips and tricks on how to make this fun dessert charcuterie board!

Ingredients for a s’mores dessert board

  • Chocolate – You can’t have s’mores without chocolate! I used chips, milk chocolate bars, and dark chocolate bars.
  • Candy – I used a mix of M&M’s and peanut butter cups but feel free to use whatever your favorite candy happens to be or what you have on hand.
  • Graham crackersThe classic s’mores addition! You can also use cookies, buttery crackers, or even ladyfingers.
  • Chocolate covered pretzelsJust something a little different to give you a sweet and salty bite!
  • Marshmallows – You can use jumbo, regular, or mini-sized!
  • Fresh fruit – I added strawberries and cherries to this board but again, feel free to use your favorite fruits that pair lovely with chocolate.

How to assemble a dessert charcuterie board

If you’re curious about how to put together this dessert board don’t worry – I have you covered!

The above photos will be a great representation of each step. Make sure to look back at the photos if you have any questions.

Step one:

First, add your bowls to the board.

I usually recommend that your bowls take up no more than ¼ of the board and that you place them on opposite sides to help create balance.

Step two:

Next, add the chocolate chips to the larger bowl and the M&Ms to the smaller one.

Step three:

Now we need to create some movement on the board!

Creating an “S” shape with the graham crackers will help divide the board and move your eye through it.

Step four:

Then fill in the space with big clumps of your “large” ingredients.

In our case, the chocolate bars, pretzels, marshmallows, and fruit.

I like adding similar elements opposite each other on the board that way they’re accessible from all sides.

For example, I put the chocolate bars and the chocolate-covered pretzels opposite each other.

The same with strawberries and cherries.

Step five:

Lastly, fill in any gaps!

I did this with mini marshmallows as you want to cover up any holes in the board so it looks abundant and full!

Step six:

Enjoy immediately or store at room temperature for up to an hour before serving!

Substitutions and adaptations

This s’mores board can be customized in a million different ways!

However, here are a few fun options:

  • Add some fun spreads like peanut butter, Nutella, or even Homemade Hot Fudge Sauce.
  • Use cookies in place of graham crackers. Some great options are Oreos, shortbread cookies, Biscoff, lady fingers, or chocolate chip cookies.
  • Craving more fruit? In this board, I added strawberries and cherries but you could also try adding blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, bananas, or even apples.
  • Need more candy in your life? Try adding KitKat, Twix, Snickers, peppermint patties, or Almond Joy.
  • Want something totally different? Add some rice crispy treats, stroopwafels, or even donuts!

Flavor combinations

Looking for a few fun and flavorful combinations for your s’mores?

  • Traditional s’mores – toast your marshmallow and sandwich it between your choice of chocolate and 2 graham crackers!
  • Minty s’mores – toast your marshmallow and sandwich between chocolate mint cookies or use graham cracker and a peppermint patty!
  • Peanut butter s’mores – toast your marshmallow and sandwich between graham crackers with either a spread of peanut butter or add a peanut butter cup!
  • Strawberry chocolate s’mores – toast your marshmallow and sandwich between graham crackers, or a chocolate cookie, with a fresh strawberry slice.

Making s’mores indoor

If you don’t have a fire or any way to make an outdoor fire you’re in luck!

You can swap the marshmallows for marshmallow fluff OR if you have a gas stove simply roast the marshmallows indoors!

Storage and leftovers

Any of the candy, crackers, chocolate, and marshmallows can be bagged and stored in the pantry.

For any leftover fruit, you should package it up and store it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or until the fruit begins to soften.
